Six Belgian paratroopers were injured on Wednesday evening during military exercises in Beja.
The military fell outside the air base, near San Matias, a parish in the municipality of Beja. The wounded were transported to the base by Air Force ambulances. The paratroopers were then taken by local volunteer firefighters to the Beja hospital.
At about one in the morning, the paratroopers were hospitalized and soon left. They were given assistance as a precautionary measure.
According to the Air Force, the incident occurred “as part of the exercises that the Belgian Air Force is conducting in Portugal.” “These exercises are the exclusive competence of the Belgian Air Force and do not involve any military or national means, but only transfer facilities to BA11 to accommodate the military and air assets of this formation,” you can read here.
