Portugal won 1-0 in Slovakia this Friday to extend their lead in Group J in qualifying for Euro 2024 with their best start to qualifying for a major competition, adding their fifth win in as many games.
At the National Stadium in Bratislava, midfielder Bruno Fernandez scored the only goal of the match in the 43rd minute, securing another triumph for Spaniard Roberto Martinez’s men on the way to next year’s European Championship in Germany.
With this result, Portugal tops the group with 15 points, ahead of Slovakia and Luxembourg (both with 10), in second and third place respectively. Bosnia and Herzegovina have six points, Iceland has three points and Liechtenstein remains at zero.
