Civil Protection recorded 668 cases between 00:00 and 22:30 Friday on the Portuguese mainland due to bad weather, with the areas of Lisbon and Setúbal hardest hit.
“The most affected areas are Lisbon with 174 cases, followed by Setúbal with 129 cases,” Commander Elicio Pereira of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) told Lusa.
However, according to the commander, the incidents “are not of a particularly serious nature.”
“Most of this number is due to the restoration of conditions in the affected areas. [pelas chuvas de terça-feira]”, he pointed out.
According to Elisio Pereira, the authorities remain committed to the cleanup.
The ANEPK commander also said that “a calmer night is expected with less precipitation.”
