Egidio Guimarães, a 76-year-old former teacher, was reported missing on July 23 in Fatima. An elderly man who lives in Braga and teaches at Escola EB 2.3 in Wiesel called a friend a few days ago.
“I have spoken with Egidio several times, we are like family. On July 21st we spoke on the phone and he told me that he had been to Fatima. I could never contact him again, his mobile phone was switched off,” explained Andrea Mota. , Egidio’s friend who filed a complaint about his disappearance.
Egidio, who was single and had no children, reportedly expressed his intention to travel to Lisbon to see Pope Francis for World Youth Day. Since July 22, no banking transactions have been recorded in his account, and on the 23rd, the elderly man also left the Fatima hostel.
The former professor was also searched in several places, including hospitals, but no trace of the man has yet been found. Any information about the disappearance should be reported to Braga’s PSP.
