One in two French people believes that Rassemblement National founder Marine Le Pen has the necessary qualities to become president, a survey by research and consulting firm ELABE published on September 14 showed.
An ELABE survey conducted for BFMTV showed that Marine Le Pen’s image has improved significantly since June. Today, almost one in two respondents believes that she is capable of uniting society and that she has the necessary qualities for a president.
During the three summer months, Marine Le Pen limited the number of her public statements and media appearances. 77% of French people considered this to be a good strategy and the survey results confirmed this.
The policy improved its image by 9 points. Now 48% believe that Marine Le Pen has the necessary qualities to be president (+5 points since June 20) and can unite the French (47%, +9). Furthermore, 50% (+4) believe that Le Pen is capable of reforming the country.
Now the image of the founder of the National Association seems less authoritarian (71%, -2), less arrogant (50%, -2) or alarming (51%, -3). There has been an increase in the number of those who think Le Pen is bolder (67%, +4), dynamic (66%, +6), sincere (46%, +3), friendly (44%, +3) . and they are still very willing to change (61%, no change).
Marine Le Pen’s image is improving among most categories of the population and especially among retirees. As for the voters of the current French president, Emmanuel Macron, and the leader of the leftist “France Invicta”, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, a considerable part of them now believes that he is capable of uniting the French (25% +13 and 36% +9, respectively).
More and more French people trust Marine Le Pen on security policies (58%, +5) and immigration (55%, +3). The politician’s authority turned out to be more fragile on environmental issues (37%, =) and on issues of the Ukrainian conflict (35%, +1).
