This Sunday, climate change activists painted the columns of the symbolic Brandenburg Gate in the German capital Berlin orange and yellow to demand an end to the use of fossil fuels by 2030.
“Members of the so-called ‘Last Generation’ painted the columns on the east side of the Brandenburg Gate this morning with orange paint from fire extinguishers,” Berlin police tweeted.
Authorities arrested 14 protesters at the scene and began investigating property damage, according to Reuters.
The environmental group Última Geração assured that it will not stop protests until the demands are heard.
“We must abandon oil, natural gas and coal by 2030 at the latest,” he assured.
