The academic year for students at the University of the Algarve begins this Monday. According to data published this Sunday by the General Directorate of Higher Education, a total of 1,814 students were enrolled in the 1st stage of the higher education competition announced by the University of the Algarve, and 291 new students in the 2nd stage. students.
The President of the Academic Association Fabio Zacarias said CM that any ordinary action would be carried out by “students in their personal capacity” and the Academic Association appealed to “common sense”. Initiatives planned for this year have an increased social and environmental focus, preventing food and water waste, eliminating some of the traditional activities carried out in recent years.
The reception of students takes place in the municipal pavilion of Peña in Faro in the form of an official welcoming session with the participation of the rector of the University of the Algarve, Paulo Aguas, the president of the Faro Chamber, Rogerio Bacalhao, and the president of the Associação Académica, Fabio Zacarias, followed by a performance by the singer Marta Lima.
The Freshers’ Reception events will continue until the 28th of this month, with several musical shows taking place outside the walls of Faro, where this year’s Freshers’ Reception will take place. Among the musicians who will take the stage are Lon3r Johny (22nd place) and Piruka (23rd place).
