A road accident killed four members of a Greek rescue team that arrived to help flood victims in Libya, Reuters reported on September 17.
Fifteen members of the Greek rescue team were injured, seven of them in critical condition, Libyan Health Minister Osman Abduljalil said in a televised news conference.
Greece’s military said the bus was traveling from Benghazi to the flood-hit eastern city of Derna when it collided with a car.
“The causes and circumstances of the incident are being investigated in cooperation with the Libyan authorities.”the statement says.
The Greek Defense Minister declared three days of mourning for the fallen officers.
“According to my decision, three days of mourning have been declared in the Armed Forces for the death of officers.”– he said.
