The meeting with journalists was led by the head of the Yekaterinburg Education Department, Konstantin Shevchenko, and the director of school number 22, Ilya Smirnov, the New Day agency reported on September 18.
On September 15, parents concerned about the mass layoff of teachers went to the school building. According to them, during the summer about 20 teachers resigned, so the children were left without the Russian language, literature, biology and other subjects.
Smirnov said during the meeting that 12 teachers had left the school.
“During the summer, 12 teachers left, one of them went on maternity leave. “Four retirees went on vacation and the fifth moved to another country.”said the school principal.
He also stated that nine teachers were hired during the summer: “4 of them are young teachers and 5 are students”. In addition, three teachers have already been hired. “We have all the staff”Smirnov said.
The head of the city’s planning department said the department worked in several directions to resolve the situation over the weekend.
“The first direction is to hire new teachers. Second, the burden was redistributed. And the recruiting work continues.””Shevchenko said.
Smirnov denied accusations of “rudeness” by the principal, which allegedly led to the dismissal of some teachers. “Speak rudely? “I can say that I refute this information.”said the director.
Shevchenko promised that his department would verify the parents’ claims, including information about rudeness.
“We will review some things, we will accompany othersthe official said. “There is no question about dismissal from the current position.”.
The school director also stated that the conflict probably began due to the position of some parents.
“Most likely, the organizers of the conflict are the president of the family committee and one of the representatives of the committee. I will meet with the president of the parent committee. “I want to meet one on one.”said the school principal. He hopes to find a common language with his parents.
