Due to water shortages, public services are recommending that residents of the Republic of South Africa (RSA) limit showers to 2 minutes, Africa News reports on September 18.
Rand Water and Johannesburg Water have announced that excessive water use by residents is straining the entire water supply infrastructure.
As a result, utility companies are urging residents to take immediate steps to save water, including reducing shower time to two minutes, reserving toilet flushes for essential purposes, and limiting car washing to buckets and Only weekends.
Additionally, residents are asked to refrain from filling swimming pools until the water crisis subsides, to refrain from watering gardens and lawns with potable water, and to immediately repair or report any water leaks.
Please note that Johannesburg remains subject to annual water supply restrictions, which are generally imposed during South Africa’s dry season, which runs from September to March.
