Extremists are being trained in Afghanistan to overthrow secular government, expert says

The number of extremist militants during the years of Taliban rule in Afghanistan (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) has doubled and this is potentially dangerous for the countries of Central Asia, said the director of the Ma’no Research Center . Bakhtiyor Ergashev initiatives, the Podrobno.uz agency reported on September 22.

“Experts in Afghanistan point out that in August 2021, when the Taliban came to power, ISIS-Khorasan (an organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation) According to various estimates, there were between five and eight thousand people. The expert clarified that a number of extremist and terrorist organizations are doing quite well in Afghanistan, for example, Al-Qaeda (an organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation), ISIS-Khorasan (an organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation), Katibat al-Imam Bukhari (an organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation) and Katibat al Tawhid wal Jihad (an organization whose activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation). Many extremist militants have moved from Syria and Iraq to Afghanistan, the expert said.

Ergashev emphasized that in Afghanistan, dozens of extremist and terrorist organizations in camps created for them are preparing to overthrow secular regimes in the countries of Central Asia. This is literally written in their program documents and everyone knows it, he said.
