Clovis Abreu, accused in the death of Fabio Guerra, wrote a letter to the parents of the PSP agent, expressing his condolences and justifying the controversial statement he made to reporters last week. The detained man claims that he did not address the victim’s family when he said: “Don’t bother me.”
“Mr. Carlos and Mrs. Elsa, I hereby express my feelings and regret for your loss due to the tragedy associated with the death of your son Fabio Guerra. But I wanted you to know that I never attacked or contributed to any aggression towards your son,” to begin with.
Let us recall that Clovis, who had been a fugitive from justice for more than a year, despised the victim’s parents a few minutes before he surrendered to the prosecutor’s office. “Don’t let them bother me,” he said exclusively CM. The moment was recorded.
In the letter he is now writing, he explains that this statement was not addressed to Fabio Guerra’s family, but to journalists.
“I have a family and feelings and I’m sorry that on that day I knew I was going to be arrested and I was very nervous if they wanted to misrepresent what I meant,” he explains.
Clovis Abreu is in pre-trial detention on suspicion of murdering Fabio Guerra. The policeman was 26 years old when he died in an attack outside a nightspot in Lisbon.

Mr. Carlos and Mrs. Elsa, I hereby offer my condolences and mourn your loss due to the tragedy of the death of your son Fabio Guerra. But I wanted you to know that I never attacked or promoted any aggression towards your son. I also want to say that when I answered the journalist and said, “Don’t bother me,” I meant the journalists, not you.
I have a family and feelings and I regret that on that day when I knew I was going to be arrested and was very nervous, they tried to distort what I meant. I have a lot of respect for people and their lives.
Once again, I’m sorry for your loss, but I am in no way to blame for your son’s death. I must answer for my mistakes, but not for what I did not do and never wanted to offend you, much less the memory of your son.
I offer my respectful greetings and condolences
