The Tajik agency AsiaPlus reported on September 25 that massive electricity cuts began in rural areas of Tajikistan.
According to the agency, in some villages, as well as in the city of Tursunzade, there is no electricity for several days. In Penjikent, the lights go out from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. In some neighborhoods there was no light during the day. De Bokhtar reports that there is no electricity in the regional center and in rural areas.
In the capital of the republic, reports were received about a power outage in microdistrict 102. Reports of power outages also come from Kulyab, from the settlements in the Sughd and Khatlon regions.
Local energy workers say the outages come as part of preventive work to prepare power grids for winter.
“There is no limit, the light is given completely””, the agency quotes employees of the local energy company.
The correspondent points out that, in the meantime, the population has not been warned about the power outage. The electricity supply is interrupted not only to the population, but also to businesses and companies.
It should be noted that in spring the government ordered the state energy company to prepare the energy system for winter. However, the work was supposed to be finished in the fall and not started. However, no other reasons for the power outage have been reported.
Recall that Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have experienced serious problems with electricity generation in recent years, since most of the electricity is generated at hydroelectric power plants. Meanwhile, the region has experienced low water levels for several years in a row.
In addition, the authorities of the republics admit that the existing energy system, inherited from the USSR, is seriously deteriorated and requires significant modernization.
