The head of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport, Ilkhom Makhkamov, has started using public transport four times a week, the company Toshshakhatranshizmat (Tashgorpasstrans) reported on December 21.
Ilkhom Makhkamov, together with Interior Minister Pulat Bobozhonov, also visited bus stops and depots. At stops and on buses, they discussed transportation problems with passengers.
Makhkamov began using public transport four days a week after the recent presidential directives to improve the standard of living and living standards of Tashkent residents. The minister uses not only the buses, but also the metro.
The authorities have bought about 1,000 new buses for Tashkent and there are plans to buy new buses for regional routes. There is an exclusive lane for buses. It is planned to reduce crowding on buses and shorten driving intervals.
