Portuguese international Nuno Mendes will undergo surgery for a torn ligament in his right leg, Paris Saint-Germain announced on Wednesday, and will be out of action for club and national team for around four months.
The 21-year-old left-back has been sidelined since May, continuing to sit out his third season for the Parisians, who underwent surgery in Finland on Friday.
“After further examination and an in-depth study of his situation, the medical department decided to carry out an operation. (…) The period of unavailability is estimated at four months,” PSG’s statement can be read.
Following a thigh injury last May, he suffered a ruptured tendon and has been on medical treatment for many months, forcing the club to hire France international Lucas Hernandez for the job.
The former Sporting CP player, capped 19 times by Portugal, is still absent from the national team due to qualifying for Euro 2024.
