
Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov lost in a bitter fight to Italian Lorenzo Musetti on September 29 in the first round match of the tough ATP-500 tournament in Beijing.
The fourteenth racket in the world, Khachanov, who won the tournament in Zhuhai, China three days ago, could not conquer the Beijing tournament. The first set went to Musetti 3:6. In the second set, Khachanov defeated his opponent 6: 1, but Karen failed in the decisive set 2: 6. The match lasted 1 hour and 55 minutes.
During the match, Khachanov completed two aces, made two errors on the second serve and won three games on the opponent’s serve (five break points in total). Musetti has five serves to his name, four double faults and three break points converted out of four won.
The Beijing tournament matches will be played from September 28 to October 4 on hard courts. The prize fund of the contest amounts to more than $3.6 million and the current champion of the contest, which is being held for the first time since 2019, is the Austrian Dominic Thiem.
