Dutchman Danny Makkelie will referee the Inter – Benfica match, and Serbian Srdjan Jovanovic will referee Union Berlin – Sporting de Braga. Both games of the second round of the Champions League, UEFA announced this Sunday.
Makkelie, 40, will attend the Reds’ first meeting on Tuesday at the San Siro Stadium in Italy, accompanied by assistants Hessel Stygstra and Jan de Vries. Rob Dieperink will serve as video referee (VAR).
The second round match of Group D will start at 20:00 Lisbon time.
In the first round, Benfica lost at home to Salzburg (2–0), and Inter Milan drew with Real Sociedad (1–1).
Serbian Srdjan Jovanovic, 37, was named for Sporting de Braga’s trip to Berlin, also on Tuesday at 17:45, in a Group C match, also making his debut for Minho.
The assistant referees will be Uros Stojkovis and Milan Mihailovic, while Croatian Ivan Bebek will be on VAR.
Sporting Braga and Union Berlin were defeated in the first round of the group by Napoli (2–1) and Real Madrid (1–0), respectively.
