At least 13 people have died after a fire broke out at a nightclub in Murcia, Spain. According to El PaisSeveral people were missing and four were injured: two women, aged 22 and 25, and two men, aged 41 and 45.
The alarm was raised around 6:00 am due to a fire in nightclubs in the Atalayas area. The flames spread to two other nightlife establishments
According to the EFE agency, cited by El País, even before the search began, there were already signs that eight people from the same group were missing. Apparently, several members of the same family were at the club celebrating Eric Hernandez’s birthday.
The cause of the fire that engulfed the Teatr, Golden and La Fonda nightclubs is still unknown. A theater representative explained that the fire originated in La Fonda, a space offering restaurant services and a dance floor.
The regional president declared three days of mourning in Murcia.
The task of identifying bodies is assigned to the scientific police brigade at the Murcia headquarters.
The leader of the People’s Party, Alberto Nunez Feijoo, expressed regret over the deaths in the fire at the Teatro nightclub. “I am very sorry and I want to share the pain of the families of the victims of the fire that occurred this morning in Murcia,” Feijoo wrote on the social network X/Twitter.
