Braga won 3-2 against Union Berlin in the second game of the Champions League group stage in the German capital this Tuesday.
The Germans entered the match with intensity and managed to score in the fourth minute of the match, but German Robin Gosens’ goal was disallowed by VAR.
The threat came true after half an hour of play when Suriname’s Sheraldo Becker scored the first goal and scored twice seven minutes later.
Before the end of the first half, in the 41st minute, Sikou Niakate, the Malian defender from Minho, cut down Arthur Jorge’s team and unknowingly began to stage what would become an epic comeback.
In the second half, Portugal’s Bruma pulled out all the stops to score a superb goal to bring the scorer back into the tie in the 56th minute. After a corner kick, the ball fell to the player, who shot from long range to make the score 2:2.
After being able to complete the turn with two attempts, one from Bruma and the other from Ricardo Horta, Braga had to fend off several German attacks.
Goalkeeper Matheus was an irresistible figure and prevented a goal from Union Berlin, where Diogo Leite was in the starting line-up.
When the referee raised the scoreboard to show four extra minutes, Braga might have looked content with a draw, but Andre Castro, fresh into the match, didn’t react and fired home from long range to complete the turnaround – and offered his opponents some competition. Bruma as a candidate for the best goal.
Thanks to this triumph, Braga earned their first points in the current Champions League. Minho’s team won the million-dollar tournament for the first time since 2012, when they defeated Turkish club Galatasaray 2-0, also on the road.
In addition to Minho’s team, Napoles, who beat Arthur Jorge’s team in the first meeting, and Real Madrid also won. Tonight the Italians and the Spaniards will meet.
