Two Portuguese men, a 40-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man, were arrested on Tuesday for carrying 1.8 kilograms of cocaine in their bodies at Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan, according to metropolitan police quoted by Mainichi.
The duo, who allegedly swallowed 228 drug-laced acorns wrapped in plastic, are also accused of convincing a third man to swallow about 15 grams of cocaine at Frankfurt Airport, Germany, on Sept. 20 to arrive at Haneda Airport. The next day.
The couple were caught by a customs officer who became suspicious when the two Portuguese said they were in the country for tourism but could not name any Japanese tourist destinations. The authorities were called and the Portuguese were subjected to tests, which revealed the presence of drugs in their bodies.
