US President Joe Biden said today he was preparing a statement on assistance to Ukraine, pointing to alternative “means of financing”, after Republicans in Congress questioned the continuity of this support for Kyiv.
“I will announce very soon an important speech that I will give on this issue and why it is critically important for the United States and our allies that we maintain our commitment” to Ukraine, Biden told reporters.
White House officials declined to disclose the date Biden plans to give the speech. The president did not specify the alternatives he has in mind for obtaining additional military aid for Ukraine in its ongoing war with Russia.
