Three activists from the environmental group Climáximo, who this Wednesday blocked traffic on São Bento Street in Lisbon to protest the climate crisis, were attacked by a truck driver.
In the video, the man can be seen getting out of the car and pulling one of the young women by the hair, as well as dragging the others out of his reach to continue his adventure.
The women sat on the road for more than 20 minutes and were eventually detained, the group said in a statement sent to the editorial office. In addition to the young women blocking the passage of cars and other vehicles, there were other young people at the scene who distributed leaflets with some basic demands.
Climáximo has been the instigator of several controversial climate awareness actions in Portugal. Activists from this collective threw green paint on the Minister of Environment, painted the FIL façade red during an aviation event and blocked traffic at the Second Roundabout. During the latest protest, two young people even hanged themselves from the viaduct.
