A bus carrying dozens of migrants, mostly Venezuelans, crashed this Friday in southern Mexico, killing 17 people and injuring 15 others, according to local authorities quoted Reuters.
The bus overturned on a highway in Oaxaca state, the state’s civil protection agency said on Twitter, adding that the accident occurred on a sharp bend in the road.
The interior ministry in neighboring Puebla state said 15 injured people were taken to hospitals as the inspection took place close to state borders.
The accident comes as thousands of migrants arrive at the US-Mexico border. These people try to cross the border by bus, truck or freight train, but in most cases the journey is dangerous.
