The closure of the gas pipeline between Finland and Estonia will not affect the latter’s gas supply, said Ain Köster, head of public relations at the Estonian energy company Elering, ERR reports on October 9.
“First of all, this incident will not affect the gas supply in any way, as gas is currently supplied to Estonia from Latvia. The underground gas storage is almost full. “Its gas reserves are enough to supply the three Baltic countries for a long time.”Koester said.
A company representative declined to give a long-term forecast, citing a lack of precise information about the pipeline incident. In any case, according to Koester, there is still the possibility of using a gas terminal in Lithuania.
Recall that on October 8, the Balticconnector gas pipeline between Finland and Estonia was urgently closed. The reason was a strong pressure drop, which suggested a leak due to damage to the pipe.
