Brussels has decided to suspend humanitarian aid to Palestine, despite ensuring that it has mechanisms to verify that the funds do not end up in the hands of organizations like Hamas.
The European Comission ha suspended this Monday “immediately” all humanitarian aid payments to Palestineas a consequence of the escalation of “brutal terror against Israel”, as announced by the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, in a message published on the social network X, formerly Twitter.
Brussels will also review all the development policy to Palestine, which Varhelyi has encrypted in 691 million eurosas well as the new budget proposals for this year 2023.
Varhelyi called for “addressing the foundations of peace, tolerance and coexistence” in the Middle East region, adding that “incitement to hatred, violence and the glorification of terror have poisoned the minds of many people.”

The Commission’s announcement occurred in the eve of the extraordinary meeting that the EU High Representative for Foreign AffairsJosep Borrell, has called for tomorrow in the afternoon with community ministers.
A meeting that will be held in a mixed format, in which some ministers will participate by videoconference and others in person, taking advantage of Borrell’s trip to Oman to address the EU’s relations with the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.
