The 63-year-old Portuguese man, born in Monsan, died last Monday after being hit by a train passing through the municipality of Crescente in Spain. According to the newspaper Faro de Vigo, The collision occurred at 1pm when a man was hit along the railway line while trying to return to Portugal on foot.
Following the accident, it was the Administrator of the Railway Infrastructure (ADIF) who contacted the Emergency Medical Services Department, the local police, the Civil Guard and the fire service. A helicopter was also mobilized as the man was alive when he was treated but later died.
The victim went for a walk with his family on Sunday, but later decided to return alone. When the family had already completed their journey, the man had not yet returned, so his disappearance was reported to the authorities.
The Civil Guard says the pedestrian may have become disoriented and tried to follow the railway line.
