The Minister of National Defense announced this Wednesday that Portugal is preparing an aid package to Ukraine with winter clothing for the military and generators, and is still considering participation in mine clearance.
“I announced here that we are preparing a package with winter clothes, winter is approaching, and this is the need that Ukraine and generators feel and demand,” Helena Carreiras said, speaking to reporters after a meeting of the Defense Contact Group. Ukraine, at the headquarters of the Atlantic Alliance in Brussels.
The defense minister said during the meeting, the first with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in person, that Portugal was “considering the possibility of participating” in mine clearance.
Helena Carreiras has already said that Portugal can do this, but only if Ukrainian divers are trained.
