The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed that an investigation had been launched this Thursday into the “suspected poisoning” of Russian journalist Marina Ovsyannikova, a refugee in Paris known for displaying a poster on Russian state television condemning the invasion of Ukraine.
The journalist became ill this Thursday in the center of the capital, sources reported, quoted by AFP.
According to a source close to the case, she claimed that she was poisoned by the Russians. An investigation has been launched and samples are being collected from his home.
Another source close to the case stressed that “at this stage there is no evidence” of poisoning.

Marina Ovsyannikova fled Russia in October 2022. Last week she was sentenced in absentia to eight and a half years in prison for criticizing the Russian army.
The journalist was accused of “spreading false information” about the Russian military and was already fined for similar violations in August 2022.
