UNITA accuses Angola’s president of turning the state into a “corrupt agent” benefiting companies and close family members, as well as other serious violations of the Constitution, which lie at the heart of the proposal to sack Joao Lourenco, which will be discussed on Saturday.
The National Assembly convened an extraordinary plenary session on Saturday to discuss the initiative to accuse and dismiss the President of the Republic, put forward by UNITA (the main opposition party of Angola) on Thursday, a document signed by 90 deputies, to which documentary evidence is also attached, and 45 witnesses were called.
In the initiative to charge and dismiss Joao Lourenço, UNITA supports a decision of more than 90 pages, which lists serious violations of the Angolan Constitution in terms of attacks on the democratic rule of law; corruption, embezzlement, trading in influence and repeated practices of nepotism; and attacks on the democratic rule of law.
