A team of military personnel from the Netherlands will travel to Lebanon as a precautionary measure due to tensions in northern Israel and southern Lebanon, the press service of the Dutch Ministry of Defense announced on October 15.
According to the department, the group took off from Eindhoven on the morning of October 15 aboard a C-130 Hercules transport plane.
The team was sent to provide support to the Dutch Embassy in Beirut in the event of a significant deterioration of the security situation in Lebanon. The ministry stated that at the moment there is no talk of evacuating Dutch citizens from Lebanon.
It is noted that tension in the border area between Israel and Lebanon has increased significantly since the Hamas attack on October 7. There have been repeated clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah militants.
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned Dutch tourists “Avoid protests and large gatherings and remain alert to local events”.
