The flight of a Spanish couple with their 16-month-old son to Portugal at the end of September ended with the child being handed over to the social services of the government of Castile and León in early October. The parents have been charged with child abduction.
According to TelechinkoThe events date back to September 27, the day when the social services of the Junta of Castile and León came to the family’s home in Zamora to enforce a claim by the Juvenile Protection Section Evaluation Committee, which stated that the child had been the subject of parental neglect.
The couple objected to this decision and went into hiding while the trial was ongoing.
According to the newspaper, they are being investigated by the Court of First Instance and Instructions of Zamora, which has asked the Portuguese authorities for cooperation to determine the whereabouts of the family.
According to the Civil Guard, they took refuge in the cities of Guarda and Viseu.
