Aveiro City Council plans to cover 1,000 establishments in the city with the “Aveiro Digital Commercial District” involving traders and hoteliers, a municipal source said on Friday.
To this end, the municipality will sign a contract with the Aveiro Commercial Association (ACA) and the Association of Hotels Restauração e Likees de Portugal (AHRESP).
According to the press release, the digital transformation program of the local commercial sector “Bairro Comercial Digital de Aveiro” will be promoted together with these organizations.
According to the same source, the “Aveiro Digital Commercial District” will be limited to the city center and will be able to cover about a thousand commercial enterprises.
The program represents a total investment of €1.1 million, of which over €900 thousand is financed by the European Union under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
The goal of Bairro Comercial Digital de Aveiro is to provide merchants with an online sales platform integrated into a delivery logistics solution, as well as a mobile application for community development.
With the development of the platform, a solution will also be implemented to integrate municipal services to citizens on a single map.
It is expected that about 30 thousand users of municipal services in the fields of education, mobility, culture and tourism will be connected to the sales platform.
“Additional infrastructure measures will be developed for the Neighborhood in terms of connectivity and sensors in the Wi-Fi and parking area of the Aveiro Tech City Living Lab,” the note adds.
It is also planned to place information digital screens about the available offer in more visible places.
