Angel Hernandez died after crossing the finish line of a cross-country race in which he set a personal best on October 13.
A 16-year-old student from Texas fell lifeless the moment he finished the test. Friends rushed to his aid and took him to another place, where he lost consciousness again.
The young man will be transported to a medical center, where he will die within an hour. Friends and relatives do not know why the karateka died. The medical team is investigating the circumstances.
“He was the kind of student-athlete you want. Very hard-working, but also concerned about his colleagues. He was also civil in school and kept track of his grades,” the former Angel coach said, as quoted by the Daily Mail. .
The funeral took place on Friday and was attended by many students dressed in purple, the color of the school the deceased attended.
In the last test conducted by the school team, a minute of silence was observed in memory of Angel. To help the family, a fundraiser has been set up to cover funeral costs.
