Bobi was admitted to the veterinary hospital for a few days, but he was unable to overcome the health problems that arose due to his advanced age.
Owner Leonel Costa is inconsolable: “It was a tough fight and only a warrior like him could have held out for so long.”
In a note sent to CMLeonel Costa writes: “The best memories are of a long life in which he was happy and, above all, made many people happy, especially his family, which today feels that one of the pillars of their life has collapsed.” Leonel remembers his four-legged friend as “very sociable.”
Bobi celebrated his 31st birthday on May 14 at his owners’ home in Conqueiros with a traditional Portuguese party with dozens of guests, music and a pig on a spit. He enjoyed his favorite dish: grilled sea bream.
After five months, “some internal problems showed up,” the owner says, adding that “specific treatment was started,” but it did not survive.
Bobi was a mongrel dog and was born on May 11, 1992. His family and the veterinarians who accompanied him believed that the secret of his longevity lay in the fresh and varied food that his owner prepared for him every day, combined with freedom and a stress-free life.
