A British scientist allowed himself to be bitten by a bug during a documentary broadcast on the channel Channel 5the newspaper reported Sun in this Wednesday.
Teacher James Logan of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine allowed an insect to suck blood from his arm and become red and “round like a sausage.”
In the documentary, a scientist talks about the increase in bedbugs invading homes and public transport in the United Kingdom.
“They have evolved beautifully to be able to seek us out and steal our blood without our knowledge,” he guarantees, emphasizing that “the chemicals that kill them no longer work.”
Another aspect contributing to the spread of bedbugs is climate change. These insects “reproduce faster and survive longer” in hot weather.
On October 7, a bedbug infestation led to the closure of seven schools in France. In Portugal, the General Directorate of Food and Veterinary Medicine said on October 13 that it is “a pest that is difficult to control,” adding that it does not pose a danger to humans or animals.
