Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the need to increase salaries and solve housing problems of young space specialists, the Kremlin’s press service reported on October 26.
On October 25, the President held a meeting on the development of the space industry. It took place at the RSC Energia facility in Korolev, Moscow Region.
In his opening speech, the President spoke of the need to accelerate the development of the industry. He mentioned the main tasks in this matter. In particular, he spoke about support for young space specialists. Therefore, they need financial support.
“I just looked at the documents before our meeting: in the regional dimension, salaries in companies in the space industry are below the average level”Putin said, adding that for him “This is even unexpected”.
The President called on industry and government leaders “pay attention to this”. In this sense, he pointed out the need to solve the housing problems of young professionals.
“We have a great selection [категорий] Mortgage benefits: Space industry employees do not qualify for any of these. And this despite the fact that the salary, let’s say, is quite modest.”said the head of state.
Under such conditions, according to him, it will not be possible to retain personnel in the industry. He called the government “prepare additional measures in this regard”.
