This Friday, Nice traveled to penultimate-placed Clermont and won 1-0 at the start of the 10th round of the French Football League, moving to an isolated lead and putting pressure on Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain.
With the triumph, their third in a row in the competition, Nice go into the weekend top, two points clear of current second-place Monaco, who play Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca’s Lille on Sunday.
Champions Paris Saint-Germain, along with Danilo, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha and Gonzalo Ramos, are now four points behind the leaders and also play on Sunday, but in Brest.
Nice beat Clermont with the only goal from Algerian Hichem Boudaoui in the 74th minute.
Clermont has five points in penultimate place and could drop to last if Lyon win on Sunday in Marseille.
