The Judicial Police (PJ) have arrested five suspects in connection with at least seven robberies of women involved in prostitution in apartments in the areas of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, police said this Friday.
In a statement, the SP said the crimes occurred between June and December 2022, with the suspects using “brutal violence” in some cases.
They stole sums of money and other goods found in the apartments.
According to the SP, the victims were selected through an advertisement published on an Internet site “that advertises and advertises escort and massage services in a sexual aspect.”
“Once the victim was selected, the suspects pretended to be clients to ascertain the location and subsequently break in. After one of them got inside the house, he cited some reason to go outside to leave the premises. open the door and let other collaborators in,” he adds.
The SP acknowledges the existence of other situations that were not reported to the authorities, since many of the victims were foreigners and some were in Portugal illegally.
The suspects were arrested in the capital district of Porto, they were between 20 and 29 years old, mostly unemployed, but one of them is a football coach.
They have been charged with aggravated robbery, possession of a prohibited weapon and forgery and will appear in court for judicial examination and enforcement action.
