The mother of two children taken hostage by Hamas on October 7 celebrated the 12th birthday of Erez, her youngest son, this Thursday in Tel Aviv, Israel. His mother organized a bike ride in honor of Erez.
“I feel it, I hear it, I feel it. It will come back very soon,” Hadas Calderon told Reuters during the event.
Erez was taken by armed Hamas militants. His sister Sahar and father Ophir were also taken hostage. The grandmother and cousin were abducted but have since been confirmed dead.
“Today I went to my grave. So today I cried and suffered, and now I celebrate. It’s a surreal situation,” Calderon said, adding that he wished his son could have been there to celebrate like a “normal boy.”
Israeli artist Benzie Brofman painted a painting dedicated to the birthday of a boy in Kfar Baruch, in northern Israel.
