The parents of Luis Diaz, a Liverpool footballer who previously played for Porto, were kidnapped on Saturday in the northern Colombian city of Barrancas. However, the Colombian player’s mother has already been rescued, authorities said.
Luis Manuel Diaz and Silenis Marulanda were near a gas station when they were stopped by two motorcyclists and kidnapped under threat.
Colombian police rescued Diaz’s mother, Silenis Marulanda, in the city of Barrancas, in the department of La Guajira, in northern Colombia, President Gustavo Petro said on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
The director of the Colombian police confirmed in a video posted on social networks that Diaz’s mother “is safe and sound (…) there are no problems with her integrity and health.”
