Almost 400 people died in traffic accidents in the Rostov region in 2023, the press service of the regional State Traffic Inspectorate reported on October 31.
“In total, during the current period of 2023, 2,123 traffic accidents were recorded on the roads of the Rostov region, as a result of which 395 people died and 2,562 people suffered injuries of varying severity”the message said.
It is clarified that 71 pedestrians died due to their own negligence. Of them, 38 people are over 50 years old.
The State Traffic Inspectorate emphasizes that it can be difficult for older people to react quickly and correctly to a danger that arises on the road. For example, they may simply not notice a car approaching in time.
It is also worth noting that the majority of fatal accidents occur at night. Pedestrians are recommended to wear clothing with reflective elements.
