The Judicial Police of Cape Verde announced this Thursday the seizure and burning of two tons of cannabis plantations on the island of Santiago following the actions of the investigative unit.
The operation took place on Tuesday in the town of João Bernardo, municipality of Santa Catarina, where plantations were destroyed as part of an annual plan to prevent and combat internal drug trafficking.
Three weeks ago, the Cape Verde PS burned three tons of cannabis in another plantation, in Belém, in the municipality of Ribeira Grande de Santiago.
At that time, 208 kilograms of cannabis were seized, divided into seven barrels ready for sale, which were stored in an abandoned house.
