Thousands of Iranians protested against Israel this Saturday on the 44th anniversary of the 1979 attack on the US embassy in Tehran, amid regional tensions over the war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
In the Iranian capital, protesters approached the former North American embassy, renamed the “Nest of Spies,” to shout the usual slogans of “Death to Israel” and “Death to the United States,” joined by “Palestine is free.” .
Participants raised Palestinian flags alongside those of Iran-aligned Lebanese militia Hezbollah and burned Israeli insignia to protest the war against the Gaza Strip, which began on October 7 after a Hamas attack that killed 1,400 people.
