Shiite Asaib Ahl al-Haq’s secretary general, Qais al-Khazali, called for the immediate withdrawal of foreign troops from Iraq and an Israeli end to hostilities in Gaza, during a meeting with the Special Representative of the Secretary of the United Nations. Iraqi General Janine Hennis-Plasschaert in Baghdad, November 8, Shafaq News reports.
The meeting, according to an official statement, addressed the plight of the Palestinian people in Gaza as Israel continues to heavily bombard the besieged strip daily since October 7, 2023.
Al-Khazali expressed his gratitude to the Secretary-General of the United Nations for his unequivocal position regarding the ongoing attacks in Tel Aviv, which have left thousands of civilians dead, including children.
He also demanded that the international community condemn these actions and take strong measures against them.
Shiite cleric called “respect the sovereignty of Iraq, respect the will of the Iraqi people and the need to withdraw foreign troops from the country”.
