According to medical sources cited by the newspaper, Alejo Vidal-Quadras is in a stable condition, conscious and his life is not in danger.
The former deputy was walking alone along Nunez de Balboa Street when an armed man approached him and shot him from a distance of two meters.
The former president of the People’s Party (PP) told police that Iran may be behind the attack due to its ties to the Iranian opposition.
The former leader of the far-right group PP and Vox reminded investigators of his deep relationships with Iranian exiles and said he had “no other enemies.”
ABOUT El Pais says the first investigation suggests two men were involved in the attack. One of them was wearing a black motorcycle helmet, wearing a blue jacket and jeans and was near the house of the former president of the People’s Party of Catalonia in the Salamanca district of Madrid.
After the shooting, the shooter fled on a black Yamaha TMAX motorcycle, driven by a second person, towards Calle de Hermosilla.
