Brazil’s Minister of Justice and Public Security denies Netanyahu

The Minister of Justice and Public Security of Brazil, Flavio Dino, denied this Thursday the statements of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that it was thanks to the Mossad, the Israeli secret service, and the Brazilian federal police that they were able to arrest the two suspects. terrorists associated with the Lebanese extremist group Hezbollah and prevent a tragedy. After the arrests this Wednesday in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, Netanyahu boasted that they were only possible thanks to the help and leadership of the Mossad, and, promoting the conclusions, said that the detainees were preparing a wave of attacks on terrorists. Jews are on Brazilian territory, but Dino objects.

“The operation (in which two suspects were arrested) was carried out by the Federal Police on the basis of evidence analyzed exclusively by the Brazilian authorities. No foreign forces control the Brazilian Federal Police. And no representative of a foreign government can expect that the result of the investigation carried out by the Federal Police is still ongoing,” Dino said on Thursday morning.

According to Flavio Dino, the Federal Police’s investigation into an alleged network of Hezbollah extremists in Brazil began long before the bloody conflict between Israel and Hamas began on October 7. And the arrests carried out this Wednesday, preliminary and lasting only five days, are intended to confirm or not the alleged terrorist plan, which, according to the minister, is still only a hypothesis and not a confirmed real fact, as the prime minister said. Israel.

“The Federal Police are investigating the evidence and have not yet confirmed whether this is indeed a case of terrorism. The warrants issued yesterday in relation to this possible terrorism case stem from decisions of the Brazilian judiciary. If evidence exists, it is the responsibility of the Police Federal Investigation to confirm or not this hypothesis,” he concluded.

Dino stressed that the actions of the Brazilian Federal Police have nothing to do with international conflicts, namely the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. And he criticized the use of Brazilian police by other countries for political propaganda purposes.
