IL’s unelected National Convention, which had been scheduled for early December, has been postponed so the party can focus on early legislative elections to “remove the PS from governing,” the liberal National Council decided this Sunday.
“The National Council of IL has just courageously decided to postpone its 8th National Convention from December 1, 2 and 3 to a date to be determined in due course,” Pedro Ferreira, vice-president of the body’s board, told reporters. .
According to the liberal leader, “there needs to be courage in the political decision to focus the IG on what is most important, namely the removal of the PS from governance” and “to find new, fresh, innovative solutions.”
Pedro Ferreira explained that at this congress, whose agenda included changes to the charter and political program, “there will be a lot to talk about within the country”, and what is necessary “at the moment is to talk to the Portuguese.”
