The Georgian parliament called the president’s statement on Russia and China malicious

Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili’s statement that she would like to see Russian President Vladimir Putin and CPV President Xi Jinping in court is close to malicious intent and could turn China against Georgia, said the first vice-president of the Georgian Parliament, Georgiy Volsky, on November 12. on a television channel Rustavi2.

“When you make such a statement and when you give such an assessment to the leader of China, of course, this is not only called irresponsibility, but political courage, and I hope that there is no cunning plan here to somehow convert China. against Georgia, with which we maintain a very promising cooperation”“Volsky said.

He noted that the Georgian government distanced itself from the Georgian president after the failed impeachment.

“Making such a statement is very close to malicious intent.”Volsky added.

Recall that in October 2023, the ruling Georgian Dream party initiated the presidential impeachment procedure, but could not obtain the required number of votes in parliament and remove Zurabishvili from office.

The Constitutional Court of Georgia confirmed that Zurabishvili violated the Constitution when, without the consent of the Georgian government, he made international visits and met with leaders of different countries, negotiating on the issue of European integration.

In early 2023, in a speech in the Georgian parliament, Zurabishvili stated that the Georgian government, unlike the people, does not deserve to be granted EU candidate status for developing economic ties with Russia.

The ruling party accused Zurabishvili of siding with the opposition and trying to prevent Georgia from being granted EU candidate status.
