Since the political crisis erupted in Portugal on Tuesday, CMTV has become the preferred news channel of the Portuguese people. On Saturday, the day of António Costa’s second appearance in front of the country, Correio da Manhã television again recorded another victory by a large margin over its competitors. CMTV’s average daily share was 5.3%, equivalent to 127 thousand viewers every minute of the day. Much lower values were recorded by CNN Portugal with a share of 3.3% and SIC Notícias with a share of 2.7%.
On Friday, of the day’s ten most-watched programs on cable, eight were from CMTV. “Grande Jornal da Noite” was actually the most viewed, with 830,000 people watching in total. On that day, the channel was in the lead with a total audience of 2.6 million Portuguese, far surpassing all competitors (SIC Notícias and CNN reached only about 2 million viewers.
Also on Thursday, the day the President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa dissolved parliament, CMTV received an average daily share of 6.4%, with 130,380 viewers per minute (SIC Notícias recorded a 4% share and 81,710 viewers, and CNN Portugal’s share of 3 .7%, equivalent to 76,160 viewers per minute).
On Wednesday, CM already recorded some of the best coverage of the year, the second day of monitoring the political crisis in Portugal, and on Tuesday the day Prime Minister António Costa resigned. – motivated by an investigation into the lithium and hydrogen business, CMTV has already guaranteed an average share of 5.9% and 125,190 viewers. CMTV has been the leader of the national information market for 19 months.
