A 10-year-old boy has been stuck in a hole in a post in a construction zone in Vietnam since New Year’s Eve. Rescuers continue to work to save the child.
The child, Li Hao Nam, apparently fell into a hole in an exposed pier while searching for scrap metal as part of work on a new bridge in the south of the country. Lee was heard pleading for help shortly after he fell into the pit this Saturday morning, but rescuers lost contact with the boy, who stopped responding that Monday. The team lowered the camera to try to locate Li, who is at a depth of 35 meters, but have not yet been able to pinpoint the child’s exact position.
“We are doing everything possible. We still cannot say what condition the boy is in,” one of the rescuers told the French news agency AFP.
The rescue team pumps oxygen into the hole, softens it, and drills the earth around the pole in an attempt to save the child.
